- has mixtures of vegetation
- if you are in a wet area or on a windward slope [windy side of the mountain] their are usually douglas fir, western hemlock, and red cedar
- on the lower slope the trees grow massive
- they grow as big as a thirty-story building
- on the leeward side [non-windy side of the mountain] the plant life is mostly just grasses and cacti
- the higher you are the smaller the trees
- the top of the western cordillera is said to be like a tundra
- its very icy and snowy/cold
- the further south you go the less plants you'll find because there is little rain
